When I’m starving, I’m starving! Unless meals are grab-ready in the refrigerator, I will prefer foods in the pantry that will sabotage my desire for weight loss.
What was required was a grocery checklist of foods that would help weight loss. It needed to contain foods that were effortless to purchase and straightforward to organize, and I sufficiently required for several days so they’d be readied for me when my craving hit.
Here’s a checklist that works:
- Cleansed and ready fruit – Wash berries, slice up other fruits like apples and pear, preserve them in a baggie and squeeze a slight lemon on them to preserve them from turning brown. Cut-up oranges will remain soft in a baggie or see-through container. Bananas are also awesome snacks but don’t refrigerate them.
- Uncooked Veggies – Slice up each of these beforehand of time. Place in see-through packs or receptacles so you see them and grab celery sticks, carrot sticks, uncooked broccoli, uncooked cauliflower, sweet peppers, and any others you’d like.
- Nut butter – So many wonderful choices! Almond and Cashew are my choices. Sprinkle them on the veggies above.
- Hardboiled eggs – Pre-boil a spectacle of hardboiled eggs. Even peel them, you assume the shell on will get in your routine of grab and go.
- Chicken, turkey – Slice into bite-sized portions and put them in a see-through receptacle. If you can notice it, you may go for it.
- Bathed Leafy Greens – lettuce, baby spinach, arugula, and kale in a transparent bag – Consume it straight out of the bag or set it in a bowl and spread some olive oil and rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar on top of it. Complete it with a cut-up hardboiled egg or the meaty proteins overhead.
- Yogurt – This is a no-brainer, but please read the tags. Select Greek yogurts with low to non-existent added sugars and unnatural anything.
- Nuts – Now, don’t go nuts! A handful only. They’re rich, enjoyable, and flavorful and yea, keep them in the fridge. Almonds and Pistachios top the checklist but go for it with Cashews and Macadamia nuts. Nada, Peanuts are not nuts; they’re a legume from the bean family.
- Iced tea or lemon water – Believe it or not, sometimes starvation is a sign that you’re thirsty. Either way, sipping something cold but flavorful can curb your hunger.
- Brush your teeth – Now, this one is not suitable. It’s not in the refrigerator, but if you’re starving, try brushing your teeth before you race for the fridge. You may be surprised at the change in your appetite!
There you have it. This checklist works for me, and I’m demanding meals. It has to look pleasing and taste good, and it nicely is there without a lot of effort when I’m starving.
